Look Inside the Computer!

Chips

Chips can be found inside your computer. They carry electronic signals that tell your computer what to do...Processing......

Chips are the size of your fingernail and they are covered with microscopic electronic circuits which control everything a computer can do.

Think of  it this way.....
a chip is somewhat like your own brain.
Your brain sends messages to your body so that you can do many things.
A chip works in a similar way inside the computer.
There is one big difference.
Do you know what that is?
Think back to Lesson 2.... Can computers think?

A chip must be  programmed
-- given a set of instructions---
before it can do anything.
Chips are programmed by people.

Inside your computer, chips process and compare information, perform calculations, and execute operations.

Chips can also be found in calculators, watches, robots, spaceships, and may other electronic devices and equipment.
