Circuit Boards

A computer is a complex system of connected electronic circuits.

Inside the computer each chip must be connected in a orderly way. Chips are arranged in circuit boards inside the computer.

The circuit boards contain chips which perform a specific function within the computer. The more circuit boards your computer has, the more things it can do.

Types of Circuit Boards

Motherboard

The motherboard is a
large computer circuit board.
It is sometimes called the system board.

It contains Chips, as well as the computer's central processing unit (CPU) and random-access memory (RAM).

The motherboard is:
1. The largest circuit board in your computer.
2. The main circuit board in your computer.

Daughter boards

Daughterboards or expansion cards are smaller circuit boards that can be connected to the motherboard expansion slots. Daughter boards can be added to your computer to provide video, memory, graphics, input devices, and other peripheral devices.

Remember a computer can not do anything on its own, It needs chips to tell it what to do, and these chips are found on circuit boards.
