The central processing unit (CPU) is the brain or your computer. 
It carries out  all the functions needed to control the operations within your computer.
It controls the flow of information in and out of your computer.

Think of it this way... 
Your brain controls everything 
that your body does,
 the CPU controls everything 
the computer does.

Without the central processing unit (CPU), you computer would not know what to do.
