What can a Computer do?

You can use a computer to help you with your homework, play a game or even read a book.

Technology Lab: What other things can you do on a computer?  Using Apple works 6: Word Processing make a list of all the things you can do on a computer.
Save your work in your student work folder. Title your work: YourLastName_answers_computer

A computer works very quickly and accurately; it never gets tired or makes mistakes. Computers will help you write, solve problems, count numbers, and even draw.

4: Homework: What does accurate mean? Look this word up in the dictionary. Write out the definition and and use the word accurate in a sentence.  

Do you think that computers are really all that smart?

 

You may think a computer is very smart but a computer is only as smart as the person who programs it. Computers appear to be intelligent because of all they can do, but a computer is not intelligent at all. In order for a computer to do a job, it must be given a set of instructions which tell it what to do.

Always remember you are much more intelligent than a computer!!

A computer cannot think for itself.
A computer does not have any feelings like people do.
A computer can not show emotion.

A computer can not form opinions.

A computer can not make decisions.

 

 


What is Artificial Intelligence? 

Artificial Intelligence (AI) ---- is a computer term used when a computer seems to be thinking human-like thoughts. 

Today scientists are trying to invent machines (computers) that exhibit human intelligence. Machines such as robots and computers will understand and respond to the human voice.

 


Assignments:

5:Homework: Have computers already, or will they in the future, take on human-like characteristics?  Draw a picture of a computer doing something you wish your computer could do.
