Chapter 3: How Computers Work

In  chapter 3 lesson's you will learn Computers are made up of many different parts. When these parts are not combined with anything else, they are just parts. When they are put together with the other parts the end results is a computer or even a computer system.  You will learn the manes and function of each. 

Lesson 5: Components of a Computer 
In this lesson you will learn about the two basic parts of an computer system which are Hardware and Software.

Assignments:

1.Click on each hardware above and read the description. Create a chart using the spreadsheet in Apppleworks 6. Write the name of the Hardware, a definition of the hardware and its function. Save in your work folder. 
Title your work: YourLastName_answers_hardware

2. Draw your own computer mouse and give it real life features. 
Try using AppleWorks 6: Drawing to draw your mouse. Save in your work folder.

Lesson 6 A : Computers at work- INput & OUTtput

In this lesson you will learn How Computers Works You will learn that A Computer Inputs Information......  Processes Information.....  Stores Information.......Outputs Information.....and How it does it.

Lesson 6A:
Assignments:

1. A washing machine is a processing unit. Can you think of any others?
Make a list, discuss why you think it is a processing unit and how it works. 
Save in your work folder. 
Title your work: YourLastName_answers_processing

2. Add input and output devices to the chart you created in Chapter 3: Lesson 5.
 Write the name of the device and what type to device it is. Input or Output? Save in your work folder.

Lesson 6 B: Look Inside the Computer!

In this lesson you will learn about how the computer works from the inside out. Click On each of the links on the page to learn more about Inside of Computers. You will learn what Chips, Circuit Boards, Motherboards, Daughter Boards, CPU, RAM, & ROM are and what the function of each is.

Lesson 6 B:
Assignments:

1. Homework: Look around your house and make a list of how many things you can find that have chips in them. 

2.Make a list of other ways you have ROM chips in your own brain and body.
