Chapter 1: Introduction to Computers

This is an introduction chapter to our course Learning All About Computers. As you go through each lesson in this chapter you will have a better idea of what a computer is and how we use them.  

Lesson 1: What is a computer?
A computer is an electronic machine and is consider a tool that we use to help us do our work.

 Assignments:
1: Homework: Look in magazines to find different types of machines. Cut them out and make a collage of them. 

 
2:Technology Lab: Using Apple Works 6: Word Processing make a list of all the tools you use through out the day. Next to each tool write how it helps you to do your work.
Save your work in your student work folder. Title your work: YourLastName_answers_tools

Lesson 2: Can a computer think? 

Do you think that computers are really all that smart? You may think a computer is very smart but a computer is only as smart as the person who programs it.

 3:Technology Lab: What other things can you do on a computer? Using Apple Works 6: Word Processing make a list of all the things you can do on a computer.
Save your work in your student work folder. Title your work: YourLastName_answers_computer

4:Homework: What does accurate mean? Look this word up in the dictionary. Write out the definition and and use the word accurate in a sentence.  

5:Homework: Have computers already, or will they in the future, take on human-like characteristics?  Draw a picture of a computer doing something you wish your computer could do.
